From Pompeii, we moved on to Sorrento, a coastal town 27Km southwest of Pompeii. Before checking into our hotel in Sorrento - the Towers Hotel Stabiae, we stopped at Le Tre Caravelle Restaurant at Castellammare for dinner.
Sorrento in fact is our transit point for our trip to Capri, a small island the next day.

Just before our bus turned into the lane leading to Le Tre Caravelle Restaurant, we had a glimpse of the sunset view of Sorrento.

The next morning on 07.10.2024, we were at the ferry jetty at Sorrento to catch the ferry to Capri.

After our one-day tour to Capri, we returned by ferry back to Sorrento by early evening. Just before dinner that evening, we had a brief free-and-easy time. With less than an hour, we walked around the town and eventually stopped at a supermarket to do some shopping.
The Luigi de Maio Street. |
I noticed some passersby stopped at the overpass above this Street to take photo. Indeed, this is a fantastic site to capture the essence of Sorrento. Part of this Luigi de Maio Street was created by removing massive amount of hard rocks to reach a level of at least three storey below the original level. The buildings constructed precariously at the very top edge of the sheer vertical man-made cliff combined with the view of the open sea and the colourful sky at the far end of this deep man-made gorge undoubtedly provide a picturique scene!

The restaurant where we had our dinner is within walking distance from the Luigi de Maio Street. It is elevated and offers a fantastic view of the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Of all the restaurants we had our meals, this restaurant was the only one that diners were entertained by singers!

If anything is to be remembered about Sorrento, it would be the pink jacket my wife bought at one boutique in Sorrento. She was more than happy about that purchase!
