Driving from Banff to Jasper: Bow Lake

Driving along the Alberta Highway in between Banff and Jasper reminded us of the many snow-capped mountains landscapes we have seen in calendars and websites. Whenever you see groups of people congregating by the roadside holding cameras or phone cameras, it is certain there must be spectacular scenery around the corner.

Banff National Park.
Like many travelers, we stopped by the highway a short distance before reaching Bow Lake to feast on these awesome landscapes.

With road signage, stationary vehicles and groups of enthusiastic crowds, it is impossible to miss Bow Lake. Moreover, it is just next to the highway.

Situated just 95Km away from Banff along Alberta Highway in Banff National Park, Bow Lake is slightly bigger compared to Morainace Lake. Fed by Bow River, its maximum length is 3.2Km,, maximum width is 1.2Km and surface elevation is 1,920m.

Unlike the lakes we visited previously, the stillness and serenity of the lake combined with the breathtaking view of the mountains offered quite a different sensation. Time seemed to have stood still.

We would have preferred to stay much longer. But, we had to move on. There were just so much more to see and explore!
