Niagara Falls

Besides the Canadian Rockies, one other bucket list is the Niagara Falls. We decided to join a one-day local tour to see and feel Niagara Falls. We boarded the tour bus at Dragon City Mall in Toronto Chinatown at 8.30am on 2 September. By 10am, we arrived at Niagara Falls which is approx. 135Km south of Toronto.

Niagara Falls consists of two Falls, the American Falls and the Horseshoe Falls. The American Falls as the name implies is in America territory while the Horseshoe Falls is in Canada. It is widely acknowledged that the Horseshoe Falls is more breathtaking and awe-inspiring compared to the adjacent American Falls. Visitors at the Canadian side are able to see both Falls while those at the American side may not be that fortunate.

The tour started with a visit to the observation deck of the Skylon Tower. At this elevated level, we were able to have a bird eye view of both Falls and territories of both the United States and Canada.. Afterward, we boarded the Hornblower Cruise to experience first hand the might of the Falls. All passengers were given red ponchos to shield themselves against the spray. We soon discovered that the weather was not as cold as we had been warned earlier. With the poncho on, we soon had to remove our warm clothing as the heat became unbearable. In the end, we also did not change our normal shoes with the rubber shoes which we brought along because the huge crowd would make it impossible for the spay to penetrate to wet our shoes.
