The next day after visiting Lake Clifton Boardwalk, we decided to look for one of the Giants of Mandurah.
The Giants of Mandurah are a series of larger-than-life wooden sculptures created by renowned Danish artist Thomas Dambo which was launched on 11 November 2022. These sculptures are sited in picturesque secret locations throughout Mandurah. One of them is near the Lake Clifton Boardwalk.
Seekers are pre-warned that significant effort is required to locate them. Our search started from the Lake Clifton Thrombolites Car Park. Initially, we expected to locate it without too much of a hassle. After more than 15 minutes, the trial turned out to be much longer than expected. My older granddaughter was unperturbed and continued enjoying her walk. My son Sam after some time was worried of the long journey and decided to make a u turn to the car park to pick up the baby stroller for his second child. The three-year old is definitely too young to walk the full distance. Her parents would likely find it unbearable to carry her for the full distance both ways.
After more than half an hour, there was still no sign of the Giant. Then at a trail junction, we met a couple who had just returned from trekking to one of the trials. They told us that there was no Giant at the end of that trail. We decided to turn right instead of straight on. A short distance after turning right, we finally saw the Giant!
A sign found along the trial. |
