Chilean Fjords & Patagonic Channels

From Punta Arenas, the cruise ship sailed through the Strait of Magellan into a labyrinth of channels before reaching Ushusaia, the southernmost city of Argentina.

Early in the morning on 28 December, we were awaken by the announcement from the PA system urging everyone to go to the top deck to enjoy the spectacular view along either side of the cruise ship. The ship then was approaching the Beagle Channel. There are islands which glisten under the morning sun as well as islands which show no sign of life and appear eerily quiet. But it is the stunning view of the snow-capped mountains, glaciers, waterfalls of molten glaciers and ripples of the pristine sea created by moving vessels and ships which captivate us all!

We were fortunate to see another spectacular scene: when glacier water meets the sea water.
