Hout Bay & Chapman's Peak Drive

The main reason we visited Hout Bay, a suburb town of Cape Town was to see the Cape fur seals on  Duiker Island, a small rock outcrop situated at a short distance off the Hout Bay Habour.

After visiting Hout Bay, our bus traversed along the only toll road in Cape Town: The Chapman's Peak Drive. Views along this road were breathtaking. The experience is similar to driving along the Melbourne Ocean Drive. This is however more magnificent as the road was built along the cliff face of a mountain.

This stretch of the road is formed by chiseling into the rock face. Columns have been installed as props to prevent collapse of the upper portion.
