Tour of Pahang - Cameron Highlands

Our tour of Pahang was made possible by the kind gesture of my niece, Lyanna Tew who generously offered her Honda Freed to us. Besides my wife, my mother-in-law and sister-in-law (wife's eldest brother's wife) also asked to be included in the tour.

Our first stop after leaving KL was Cameron Highlands. Along the way, we stopped at Bidor for lunch. After spending two nights in Cameron Highlands, we moved to Mentakab stopping at Chenor near Raub for afternoon tea. In Mentakab, we also visited Temerloh. The last two days were spent in Sungai Lembing. Before finally returning to KL, we also had stops at Kuantan and Bentong. The whole tour covered a distance of 1,060Km.

Before going to West Malaysia, we were told that going to Cameron Highlands during holidays and weekends could be a nightmare - one is sure to be caught in massive traffic jam. Vehicles simply inch along and may take one hour just to cover a mere 5Km. This is simply because of the excessive numbers of cars converging to a small location.

We were fortunate our tour was made after the weekends and the traffic flow was good. No bad experience of traffic jam!

We stayed in a budget hotel near to the night market at Brinching. However, there was no night market as it was not a weekend. Throughout our stay, it was either raining or drizzling at most of the time we were in Cameron Highlands!

We did manage to see some of the places we planned to see and eat at the outlets which are very much promoted in the internet.

Steamboat is the most popular in the restaurants because of the cool weather. We had steamboat at a restaurant called Cameron Organic Produce near our hotel. The price is comparatively higher than the rest because they claim to be a restaurant certified to serve only organic vegetables. The charge is RM20 per set. For big eaters, it's common to order one set for each person. For us who are not big eaters, 3 sets for 4 persons were more than enough!
