Tower of London, Then & Now

I last visited the Tower of London in March 1984. That was 30 years ago when I was sent by JKR Sabah to attend a short course on airport planning and design at the in Loughborough University.

As I stepped inside the Castle on 11 August 2014, the very obvious reminder of this place is the same uniform worn by the castle staff. The British must be commented for their faithfulness in keeping tradition.

This time, I did notice a difference. The Castle was surrounded by a sea of red flowers. These flowers are in fact red ceramic flowers specially made and planted to commemorate the fallen soldiers of British's involvement in the First World War. Titled "Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red", it consists of 888,246 red flowers - each representing a British or a Colonial military fatality. These "flowers" spread over grounds around the tower. Awesome sight!

The number one attraction to visitors in this Castle is the Crown Jewels, Here, one can view the world's largest and most interesting gems. On display are crowns and other royal regalia made for and used by a variety of kings, queens and princes of the British monarchy.

we had to spend close to an hour in the queue to get our turn!
